Aerial data comes from two very different acquisition methods: LiDAR (laser-based) and photogrammetry (camera-based, typically from drones). We process LiDAR-derived point clouds only. If your dataset is photogrammetric, we're not the right fit for this scope — ask us anyway and we'll tell you honestly.
Questions specific to aerial LiDAR.
How do I know if my data is LiDAR or photogrammetry?
If it was captured with a laser scanner (fixed-wing, helicopter, or drone-mounted LiDAR sensor), it's LiDAR. If it was captured with a camera and processed into a point cloud via software like Pix4D or DroneDeploy, it's photogrammetry. If you're not sure, send us the file and we'll tell you.
What's the difference in deliverable quality?
LiDAR penetrates vegetation canopy and produces more reliable ground returns; photogrammetry struggles with this and with low-texture or reflective surfaces. That's part of why we stay LiDAR-only — we'd rather not promise quality we can't back.
